When Music Finds Us

Quando a Música Nos Encontra

Acrylic Palette Knife painting100 × 100 cmHeight × width · canvas

In this painting, I explore music as a shared experience. A guitarist plays while two women accompany him, creating a space of closeness, listening and connection between the three figures. Rather than simply depicting a musical performance, I am interested in that moment when a melody seems to suspend everything around it and, for a while, bring together those who share it.

I worked primarily with a palette knife, building the surface through layers of paint, impasto and texture. The two female figures are deliberately fragmented and subtly displaced through geometric planes, allowing different positions and moments to coexist within the same composition.

This fragmentation introduces an almost musical quality into the structure of the painting itself. Just as a melody contains repetition, rhythm, pause and variation, the figures appear, disappear and re-emerge through the different planes.

The warm tones of the guitar and skin contrast with the luminous blues, greens and yellows surrounding the figures. Moving between figuration and abstraction, I wanted to capture not simply three people gathered around music, but what happens between them: a shared moment transformed into memory through music.
